We may be a small nonprofit, but we're making a big difference - and we’re serious about using donor funds the right way. In addition to filing a legally required Form 990 (a tax return for nonprofits), an independent CPA reviews our financials to make sure everything’s in order. Plus, in Ghana, a local independent accountant audits the finances of our sister organization there. These extra layers of oversight help us stay transparent and accountable.
We run a tight ship and we honor donor intent. All of our overhead - like admin costs and credit card fees - is covered by a special fund made up of volunteer fees and donations from a few generous people who specifically choose to pay for these expenses. That means when you donate, your entire gift goes where you want it to - straight to our work in Ghana. So if you give $50, every cent of it supports real impact on the ground. When we say 100% goes to Ghana, we’re not kidding.

Top 5 reasons why your dollar does the most good at GMAD
|
1) The children sheltered at GMAD have been rescued from trafficking and abandonment, and they are among the most vulnerable in the world.
2) We focus on what will make a lasting difference. Our use of social workers and sponsorships ensures every child is placed on a path to self reliance through family reunification and education / vocational training. 3) Ghana is a developing country, but it is relatively safe and it has a stable government. Our investment and infrastructure are safe, and Ghana has a favorable exchange rate for donations. 4) Financial stewardship and structure. GMAD believes in the sanctity of the widow’s mite. Our financial process ensures that 100% of your donations go to Ghana to unlock potential - to truly make a difference. All of GMAD’s overhead expenses are paid with a portion of volunteer fees and money from several donors who have elected to cover our overhead expenses. 5) A lot of work! The local staff, our Ghana officers and directors, and our many volunteers work tirelessly in Ghana. Their efforts magnify our sacred funds. |
