Step 3: Complete your background check |
Multiple Ghana government agencies that oversee the GMAD children’s home in Ghana require a criminal background check for all GMAD volunteers 18 and older. We cannot approve you to be a GMAD volunteer without a clean background report. A link to the background check is located on our website.
Step 4: Pay your program fees |
The first payment or deposit ($1,000) is due by May 15. The second payment, or payment in full, is due by July 1st.
What your volunteer fees include
- Food and lodging at the GMAD home in Ghana
- 2 night hotel stay
- Admission to Canopy Walk at Kakum, Slave Castle entrance and a Global Mamas cultural class
- Meaningful service opportunities
- GMAD T-shirt
- All transportation within Ghana
What your volunteer fees do not include
- Passport and visa
- Immunization and malaria medication
- Flights
- Snacks
- Travel insurance
